The 4am hour...

yes. It's that time of year. As Frank put it today "ohhh..the 4am hour". Why does 4:45am seem SO MUCH WORSE then 5:00am? It's only 15 minutes less sleep - just got to bed 15 minutes earlier right? WRONG. For some reason - it's so much harder to crawl out of bed when the first number on the clock is '4'. Anyway - today we met at 5:30 to do our normal Wednesday run. And it was a killer. My car said it was 84 our at 5:15. 84!! Who knows what the humidity was - and the heat index..I don't even want to go there.

Anyway - the run was a tough one. We got in around 6 miles - but it was just hot. Sweat just dropping off of us like - well - like we where running in hell. But we where troopers and totally rocked it out. Not every run can be perfect right?

So I think the 4am hour is going to start rolling in next week. Meeting at 5:15? Well, at least we are somewhat beating the heat. Unlike the poor tourists I see running when I go home for lunch. Crazies. There is a freaking heat warning outside people! Why are you running at the hottest time of the day?!?! Kills me.

This weekend is My First Tri over at Eglan Air force Base. This race is suppose to be a blast. It's a 200 meter swim (in the gulf I think) 8 mile bike and a 2 mile run! How much fun does that sound?!?! I know, it's not my first, but I had to do it. Plus little Chloe and a few other friends and their kids are racing as well. It is going to be so much fun watching the kids. I'm sure I'll have tons of great pictures to share!

Oh - and in case you where wondering (which I'm sure you where) masters practice is going very well. It's nice to have someone to tell you what to do instead of having my own workouts. And it also keeps me on top of my just floating around and talking.

Hope everyone is having a great week - and congrats to everyone who raced IM Kansas 70.3 (and Amy who totally ROCKED IT OUT with a PR) and Sam who fought the rain in Ironman 70.3 Boise!!

Chloe, thanks for all the support!!! Appreciate it!

Total get the getting up early to run thing.....out here there are days during the summer that I actually get up and run @ 2-3 am just to avoid the heat. Now granted we don't have the humidity you do but 120 degrees is still barely manageable!

Hey I was curious...You do a full in 2010? St. George maybe?? :P

P.S. Cute pics!!

The heat is back! Even though waking up early can suck, I rather get some good runs in than go for a run and have it feel like death. Way to rock masters swim too.

Have a blat my first tri this weekend.

Oh my - if I had to wake up at 4:45 that would mean setting my alarm for 4:15 so I could have 30 minutes of snooze!! BRUTAL! :)

You are so hot! (Figurativly and literally) I would kill to look good running in a sports bra. Of course if I lived there. I would probably be like, fuck it -- deal with it people.

Great workout. I love 4:45, so bad ass!

I hear you sister. Summertime runs in Florida are tricky. I ended up melting for the last 3 miles of my 20 miler on Monday. No more summer marathons for me after Seattle next week. As Bill Maher would say: "New Rule: the summer is for tris."

Yeah, I don't know how you do the heat there. It was 87 and sunny here yesterday, and i thought i might stroke out.

But you're right about the 4am hour...soooo much harder than 5.

Love the pics :)

84 in the 5 o'clock hour?! WTF?! I must say, though, I'm slightly jealous because it's been June gloom city in So Cal lately and I need to train in the heat for a potentially killer hot Vineman!

Good luck in your race. Any more big ones planned for 2009? How about Cancun 70.3? You got the heat training factor on your side. I kind of want to do that race and party after :)

I know it, 96 today here with some kind of ridiculous humidity, blech! Best of luck this weekend and I will see YOU next weekend! Woohoo.

Thanks for the shout out, my friend! Mighty nice of you.

I have to admit, when I was reading, I was thinking I'm usually that tourist running on the beach around noon. ONLY b/c you get to run on the beach so even if it's a million degrees you're still looking at the pretty ocean. Plus, I never want to wake up early on vacation.

Anyway, you're totally right about 4:45 vs. 5am. I don't know why either but the 4 makes it unbearable. Congrats on the great workout today!

Oh, and PS - Charlie Hoopers was Patrick's favorite bar when he lived in KC. I wonder if you ever met him or his buddies in a drunken haze (on his part).

There is something just wrong about getting up when the clock reads 4:xx!! But you gotta do what you gotta do!!

Have a great race!

Um, I have no idea how you guys workout in that heat, even at 5:15. You crazy Floridians. Ha!

Hey, are you coming out to Boulder next year for the 70.3??? KK and I both live right off the race course. Seriously. Fun Fun weekend.

OK, I know it's far away.
