Raw Foods

Ok.  Before I start talking about my raw food experience last week, I would like to share a picture of the cutest future triathlete ever - Carissa:

So if you are having a baby, you know what you are going to get in the mail from me :) Check out the TRIX website when you have the chance!  Love it!

So I was traveling for the week in Jacksonville Beach for work.  Usually when I get home from these trips I feel like crap.  Too much eating out and wine.  But not this trip.  I was lucky enough to be invited over to my triathlete friend Doris's house for a raw dinner party.  What the heck to you bring to a raw dinner party?  I decided I would be safe with flowers and wine.  Who would refuse flowers and wine?  Anyway the food was AMAZING as well as the company:
Looks like pasta - right?  Nope!  It's all raw!

Raw keylime pie!

Needless to say, I was totally thrown back by how wonderful this raw food was.  So I decided to keep up the 'raw' diet the best I could for the rest of the week.  Found a few good raw places to eat and pigged out on veggies and fruit as much as I could.  My runs felt awesome and my energy level was out the roof.

I talked to Big J and he was all about slowly incorporating a raw meal every week into our diet and then going from there.  It would take a ton of time (which either of us really have right now) to be fully 'Raw' - but a meal every now and then is a good start!  Also, I'm not going to lie.  But I do like a steak and pizza every now and then :)

Anyone else interested in being a little raw?  Anyone have any good sites or links?

I think I would miss hot foods. This week I've been on a smoothie or salad diet, and the other day I just wanted something warm to eat (even though it was 85 outside)

I would LOVE to try raw food, but I have no idea where to start and it seems really involved as far as preparing meals.

I'm all ears for ideas though!!

Please do share recipes! It sounds too difficult and time consuming and expensive... but maybe not! Look forward to hearing about your experiments.

Hi Chloe,

Great post, good pictures, very inspiring post.

We have been eating alot of salads recently, I will investigate raw fo7od recipes.

Sorry about my lack of visits.
Spike's, our dog, illness, quick death nov/dec and being so ill jan/feb to march meant no visits.

Since then I have been spending more time sitting in my wheelchair I have also not been visiting.

I just passed by to say hello.
I hope you are doing well.
Love,
Herrad

If you get recipes send them my way, because I am all about being more healthy. Although I cant imagine the carnivore I live with wanting anything to do with this diet.

She is super cute!! Love it! I am also excited about your raw foods diet! It's tough to do, but I certainly try to tend that way when I can!

I love me some hot foods, but I don't mind eating like this once in a while. I usually try to do the detox/raw thing for a week every other month.

I only do raw food diets when I can grow most of the food myself.

Its amazing how much you can do with a grater and root crops!
