Random Thoughs Friday

* This week has been a huge challenge. I'm usually up and at them early. Like 5am. This week, not so much. We have this little thing called pollen that has been hanging out in our area for the past 4 weeks. And now it's bad. Everything is freaking yellow. Any my body hates it. My nose runs, constant sneezing, and just feeling blah. Specially in the morning. Hopefully this stuff will go away soon. Training has been really fun when you tie the sneezing in. Specially on the bike. Gross.

* I love my new coffee maker. Love it.

* Newtons. I want to try them. But I don't want to dump a ton of $$ into a pair of shoes that I don't like. Thoughts or feelings? Anyone?

* Can I introduce the cutest baby ever:

This is the combo from my friends that are in town this week. The coolest baby ever. Little Trevor is 7 months old and is crawling like a mad man.

* Next weekend is St. Anthonys! Guess who is going to be there???

Just to name a few. I would rather watch this race then race it! Plus there are around 30 waves in this race - thankfully I'm in wave 10!

Hope everyone has a good weekend and good luck to anyone racing! Specially NOLA 70.3!

1. Sorry about your snottiness, everyone up here has it too! yuck!

2. That IS the cuteist baby ever!

3. Newtons, well, I really really love them. Do you have a store near you? I just heard a talk from one of the foremost coaches that said they only benefit about 20% of those who run in them. You HAVE to be a forefoot striker or close to really see the benefits. If you're not, you have to do drills etc. to get there so you can reap teh benefits of the "lungs". Try them at a store first, see what you think if you can!

4. GOOD LUCK this weekend at St. A's! You can do it!!

Nice eye candy while you're racing, right??
Hope the pollen calms down soon. Everyone here is suffering too.

Good luck on your race. Rock it!

Good luck at St. Anthonys!

I was thinking about Newtons but I don't know either. You should look up http://samiamfromfattofast.blogspot.com/ Sam I am. She works with them and may be able to give you some info!

I have a pair of Newtons and I don't think they're right for me. Had a stress fracture in January -- not sure if it's related to those shoes or heavy mileage, but I'm going back to my Brooks Adrenaline. Do lots of research and if you decide to get them, you need to break them in sloooowly. Keep us posted!

First off, you just scared the pee out of me. I clearly have no business being on the same course as these super athletes. Second, I will get to watch these athletes. I don't go off until about 8:30 AM. It's a bitch getting old and being placed in the wave after the Clydesdales. If I don't melt in the sun, I'm going to pass me some fat guys on the run.

A lot of people that I know that have had the Newtowns love them at first and then promplty get injured. Good luck at the race! Always so cool in triathlons you can race against the best in the world!

Wasn't going to work St Ant but may have to change that to see you in action...
Newton's?? Don't like them. Convinced they helped promote my Achilles issue prior to IMFL last year.
Pollen? After a ride two weeks ago, I had literallly a several millimeter thick layer on my front brakes. And to think that was stagnant accumulation and I was sucking in air the whole ride... Instead of BLACK lung, I had YELLOW lung....

Good luck this weekend!!! I'm trying to figure out a way I can come and do the race next year. I might secretly sign up whenever it opens for reg.

Trevor is so cute!!!

My co-worker loves his newtons, but I don't have any experience with them. I have heard the same thing someone else mentioned, that they are great for some people but not at all for others. Sorry I can't give you any actual helpful advice, I'm just rambling.

Have you ever tried a netti pot? They sound gross, but since I've had sinus issues for the past 7 months I started using something like a netti pot and it makes a huge difference. Huge!

I have a friend, who when she wants to but new shoes that she hasnt worn before, she goes into the running store and runs on the dreadmill in there till she makes an decision, Im not talking 30 seconds, she said one time she went 20 minutes before they told her to get off. I never tried this, just passing it on

the poolen sucks bad around here too! very excited for your st. a's race next w/e! I've never tried newtons. I've asked other triathletes and runners and it seems to be an even split on loving or hating them. I just can't imagine dropping that amount of cash for running shoes. they are the coolest looking shoes though. for me, saucony works and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. have a great w/e.
