Dear Blogger:

Did you really have to kick me off the site for a week?  Really?  Ugh.

Anyway - things here on the beach are totally kicking ass.  Training is rocking and today - the humidity was super low, so I didn't feel like I was riding into a blow dryer.  And I really think the speed work is finally paying off - even though I could run over yesterdays two mile repeats with my car and not thing twice about it.  But it will pay off at the end.....

I really hope all of you east-coasters are fairing well with good old Irene screwing up your weekend.  Hurricanes are REALLY scary, especially when you are not used to dealing with it (umm..NYC?) In Florida we are all about the hurricane parties - but when a storm that large is heading our way, I'm cruising up to Atlanta!

Oh yeah - I found out last weekend that I can't act like I'm 21 again.  Drinking until 2am is never a good idea :)  But we did bust out some killer dance moves (at least we thought so) and mixing sweet tea vodka with water and fresh lemon is delish.  But don't drink more then 200 of them ;)

I hope everyone is having a killer weekend AND good luck to everyone who is racing IMKY and IMCA this weekend!!

Make your own 'power balls'!

As we all know - you have to eat on the run (literally) in triathlons.  And sometimes we have to eat allot.  I am not a huge fan of any type of gel (it's bad - sometimes I gag...gross)  I like to keep it simple and keep my tummy happy. What could be simpler (and cheaper) then making your own?  You know exactly what you are eating - and it's easier on your pocketbook.  Well a few years ago I ran across this recipe from Frayed Laces Blog.  If you have not checked out her blog, please do!  Laura is awesome and I can't wait to see her again at IMFL this year!  Anyway - she posted this simple recipe.  And these little bites of peanut butter goodness are AMAZING.  You can add or remove whatever tickles your fancy.  Here are some photos of my most recent batch:

I like to add in raisins and a little carob powder for some chocolate punch!
Melting the honey and natural peanut butter
The 'dry goods' prior to adding the peanut butter and honey
Yummm...the final product.

I am going to warn you though.  These bad boys are addictive.  Seriously.  I usually stick them in the freezer to keep me from snacking on them all day.  But they work perfectly on on the bike and taste like heaven!  Something just a little different from the usual gel or chews....and a hell of allot cheaper!
bon appetit!

Too Damn Hot

This week was a tough week training wise.  Mileage, intensity, and the heat where all up.  But sometimes you just have to put your head down and get it done.  It felt great putting a huge 'X' over those workouts every day.  Specially after Saturdays and today's workout.

I've decided from now until IMTX I really want to focus on my running speed.  And remember Carla, my training partner from IMFL?  She wants to qualify for Boston this winter.  And how do you get faster?  Speed workouts.  We've been meeting with coach on Saturday mornings (ahhmmm...5:30am) to crank it out.  This weekend was mile repeats, which Carla and I both smashed.  Since we both have the same great attitudes and really want to get faster - we work through the pain.  Positive attitude is everything bitches!

And since we are meeting on Saturday - I also have to squeeze in a long ride.  So after giving 110% on the trail, I hopped on my bike and cranked out 3 hours.  Needless to day - I was pretty pooped by 10am.

But thankfully I had on my awesome new Betty Design shorts to get me stylishly through my hot ass ride:

As I was pulling up to our house - Big J calls and says "get on your suit - we're heading to the island"  An afternoon on the ac on the couch or lounging in the bay on a funnoodle.  Hmmm....
Tough Choice:

Don't forget about my sweet hoo ha compression socks giveaway!
I have mine on right now!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
