Too good to pass up...

I follow a blog called Things We Forget - if you have a moment, check it out.  This popped up today on my blog roll and I just had to share:

Sue from Wine Chocolate and Friendship posted this blog a few months ago, and I've been looking forward to my daily 'reminders' since.

On to triathlon ramblings - I've been thinking lately about race weight.  Do you know yours?  If so, how did you figure it out?

TGIF!

I wondered where you got those sayings from, I've enjoyed them :-)

Race weight...interesting question. I feel like my triathlon race weight is two lbs lower than what I maintain with no effort. That being said, I also just think it's all in my head, just a number that feels 'race ready' for me.

Of course I'm way far away from that right now :-) For my marathon in January I'm hoping to be at race weight minus a few more lbs since it's just a marathon.

I think Ironman race weight is an entirely different topic though.

I love those and wondered where you got them from...I figured you made them yourself.

I don't have a weight so much, but a minimum body fat I can maintain. I don't actually know what it is, but I know that I can maintain it for about 10 days before I'm miserable. Cold all the time. I've had my best races when I found that weight about a month out, put on a couple pounds, then lost them the last 5-6 days before the race. The exact # is about 130, but changes depending on how much muscle I have. For instance, right now I'm 12 pounds more than I was for IMAZ 2 years ago, but wearing the same shorts, so I must have a lot more muscle...which I know i do, because some of my tops are a lot tighter through the shoulders.

I'm shooting for 130 for Kona this year. If I get there I'll look damn skinny but I know I'll be light and able to run faster. I also am tracking my body fat better this time, so I will have some idea of what the % is for next time.

I love those fell good blogs!! Makes you really think and be thankful!

Race weight, just a few ounds lighter, be care not to loose too much other wise you will have no power due to muscle loss. I usually let my husband lose no more than 4 to 5 lbs. Just my opinion though. Happy Training!!

Love the post it note blog - I might borrow that idea to spread the word about the blog. Pretty cool

I don't know much about race weight. I should pay attention to it, but I haven't. I will focus more on that in training for my first IM next year.

Love it! Thanks for sharing!

I have a number in my head for what I like to call my "fightin' weight." ;) It's definitely a bit lower than where I am now...hoping to get down there by next May's marathon. I notice quite a big difference in my race results even with an extra 5-6 pounds. I guess I picked my number as something that I know is realistic and healthy, but requires some work!
